Crowns and Bridges

Teeth that have been subject to a significant amount of decay, and those that have suffered injury or fracture, may need a dental crown. A crown is a permanent dental prosthetic that covers the entire tooth over the gumline, offering an enhanced aesthetic to the damaged tooth as well as improved function.

Our dentists use three types of crowns:

  • 100% ceramic crowns
  • Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns
  • All metal, or gold crowns

After we have evaluated the condition of your teeth, we will help you decide which type of dental crown will be best for your needs. Crowns are custom-molded for the best possible fit to your tooth, and then color-matched to provide the most natural-looking results.
Dental Bridges are composed of multiple dental crowns and allow our dentists to provide you with permanent restoration of one or more missing teeth. These dental prosthetics are connected to your surrounding natural teeth and color-matched to blend in. In some cases, at least one dental implant may be necessary to provide the best support for the bridge.

Dental Implants

One of the most revolutionary treatments to come along in decades, dental implants offer permanent replacement for missing teeth without the maintenance and hassle that often accompany traditional dentures. Whether you need just one tooth replacement or a full-mouth rehabilitation, dental implants improve both form and function of your teeth and are as close as one can come to having natural teeth.

Dental implants are titanium rods that are affixed to your jaw under the gumline. Over a period of a few months, the rod will fuse itself to the jaw, becoming a permanent part of your mouth. During this period, our dentist can place a temporary crown while the implant fuses itself to the bone. After the fusion has taken place, a porcelain crown will be attached to the top of the implant. The crown has been custom-molded and color-tinted to match the surrounding teeth.

Dental implants can help improve your chewing and speaking, and they look and feel so natural you may have a tough time distinguishing them from the rest of your teeth. Best of all, they are permanent teeth replacements that can have you flashing a winning smile.

Periodontal Care

Millions of Americans have periodontal (gum) disease. Unfortunately, if left untreated, gum disease can lead to receding gums, tooth loss, and even more serious health problems, increasing the risk of conditions such as heart disease and stroke. A routine dental exam can identify periodontal disease, and our dentists offer a number of effective treatments to improve the health of your gums. Although there is no cure for periodontal disease, regular brushing and flossing routines along with treatments designed to stop its progression, such as deep scaling, root planing, and/or antibiotics, can go a long way in getting your gums into a healthier condition.
If you are affected by inflamed, swollen, receding, and/or bleeding gums, please see a dentist as soon as possible.

Root Canals (Endodontics)

Root canal therapy, known in the dental field as Endodontics, is sometimes necessary to save a tooth affected by severe decay and bacteria. Teeth that have been damaged, infected, or severely broken down can often be treated with root canal therapy that can ultimately save them from extraction. Root canals can not only save your tooth, they can also help prevent an infection from spreading and causing even more serious problems. Gentle Dental has a team of in-office endodontists that can perform root canals without having to refer you to another practice.

Teeth Extractions

Sometimes, a damaged or decayed tooth just cannot be saved. Whether it’s a wisdom tooth or a tooth that has been affected by injury or decay, our dentists can remove problem teeth and talk with you about restoration options if you are considering replacement.

TMJ Treatment

Chronic headaches, jaw pain, neck tension, and other conditions associated with TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder) can be caused by clenching or grinding of the teeth. TMJ can also be brought on by awkward positioning, shape, or movement of jaw muscles. Gentle Dental offers the FDA-approved treatment known as the NTI appliance. This procedure does not require surgery or medicine to improve painful symptoms that can be caused by TMJ.

Dentures

Although dental implants serve as a permanent alternative to dentures, recent advances in restorative dentistry have brought on many improvements in the look and feel of dentures, allowing them to be more comfortable and appear more natural. Traditional dentures are artificial teeth replacements and can be used in both partial and complete restorations. Our dentists can evaluate you to determine if dentures are the best option for your needs.

Cosmetic Dentures

Cosmetic dentures are typically provided for those who are primarily concerned with aesthetic dental issues after losing teeth. Available in both partial and complete sets, cosmetic dentures can be natural-looking and comfortable teeth replacements.

Removable Partial Dentures

Removable partial dentures can serve as an effective alternative to complete dentures or dental implants. Very similar in appearance to natural teeth, removable partial dentures are made of durable material held together in a plastic and metal structure that is attached to your remaining teeth.
