To start, remove your dentures properly and give them a thorough brushing with a toothbrush, water and baking soda. This should remove anything stuck on your denture and clean off most stains. You can also brush your tongue and gums at this time. Rinse out your mouth.

So your dentures are now clean but how do you get them white? You will want to soak them for at least thirty minutes and up to the next day in a mixture of half water and half hydrogen peroxide 3%. Use a glass bowl and make sure that your dentures are completely covered with the mixture. Hydrogen peroxide 3% is very safe and you can even rinse your mouth out with the mixture if you need to. It will help to clean out your mouth if you have a cut or a sore in your mouth. After you are finished soaking your dentures, rinse them thoroughly. Brush them thoroughly (and your mouth if you prefer) with your favorite toothpaste before re-inserting.

If you still have stubborn stains you can soak your dentures in a mixture of bleach and water. Once again use a glass bowl. Mix one third cup bleach with one cup water. Make sure that the mixture covers your dentures, especially the part that is stained. Soak them for at least one half hour or overnight if you can. After you remove them from the mixture, rinse them for at least two minutes under a running faucet. Brush them thoroughly with a toothbrush and your favorite toothpaste.

By following these basic steps your smile will always be sparkling! Plus you will save more money in the pocketbook by not having to purchase expensive cleaners! For more information on dentures contact your local Gentle Dental office at 1-888-513-7436.
